Characters Name: Hiroki Yu
Age: 15
Canon: Bokura no Kiseki
Canon Point:
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight. Hiroki isn't shown canonly having romantic feelings...for anyone, really. She's too preoccupied with the past and with the pricness/Harusumi to really think about that. She did have a while where Moto confessed to her but she turned him down. Still, I don't think it was because of a lack of interest so much as there are more important things for her right now. But she's not seen having anything close to a relationship with anyone else and when Momo confessed that in her past life she had been in love with Bart, Hiroki didn't really react either. I think she'd be heterosexual though.
History:
There isn't much about Hiroki's life before highschool, but it's probably safe to say that she had a pretty normal childhood.
Then she entered highschool and things continued to be normal. She got along well with her new class and she was trying to find a club to join. Then one day, after school, when she and some of her classmates saw strange flashes of light coming from the otherside of the school building, everything changed. She began to remember something strange, slowly at first but gradually it became clearer and clearer.
A castle far from the imperial capital, a princess she had sworn to protect, a half-brother and everything burning to the ground.
Talking with the friends who had also seen the light they came to the conclusion that it was their past life they were remembering.
After that, a fight broke out between her friends because of their past allegiance, one to Zerestria where Hiroki's past life came from, and the other from Moswick who had betrayed Zerestria and was (so they think) responsible for the destruction of the castle. In order to pacify the situation, Hiroki claims to be Princess Veronica, the princess of the castle they all lived in.
She kept up the act though she was immediately found out by the real reincarnation of Princess Veronica who confronted Hiroki, claiming they planned to kill Veronica and allow Hiroki to take her place. This was a lie, but Hiroki, believing they truly meant he princess harm, decided to oppose them and revealed that her past life was the squire Bart Belbania, a noble from the warrior house known as Zerestria's Fang. When she realized she was faced with the real Princess Veronica, she dropped the act and decided to follow her princess in this life as well.
Appearance:
Image here.
A slim girl with straight, light brown hair. Hiroki is often seen with a smile and she dresses in cute and feminine clothes.
Personality:
Hiroki is very cute in a sporty, mature (for a highschool girl) kind of way. She always has a smile and a quick word of advice for people who seek her out and sometimes even when it hadn't been asked. She's sharp and quick on the upate, as seen by her ability to think on the spot in canon and the way she is able to pick up on what the main character tries to do a lot of the times. It's not an act, Hiroki really is a cheerful and surprisingly straightforward girl who likes to help where she can.
However, at the same time Hiroki can also be pretty manipulative and calculating. Like when she joined forces with Harusumi, Princess Veronica's reincarnation, and with a bright smile and a cheerful demeanour she managed to push the rest of the class to wanting to find out who was responsible for the attack in the past without ever telling them to do it. She does the same when she pretended to be Princess Veronica. She used that lie to get the support of others and also because she thought that if she claimed to be the princess then it would be easier to get information. It can be surprisingly difficult to read her sometimes. She's really not the kind of girl to wear her heart on her sleeve, though she has moments when she's taken by surprise or when she allows it, when it's easy to see what she feels, because for all this, she can be surprisingly honest too.
There's another important aspect of Hiroki's personality: the way she is tied to her past life as Bart Belbania. When asked, Hiroki said that even if she remembered being Bart, she was still herself, that being a man in her past life didn't change how she saw herself. While she seems to be able to separate her identity from Bart's though, she can't seem to do the same for his feelings. Hiroki is driven to find the truth about the past because of Bart's feelings. She agrees to join Harusumi and later questions this very same decision because of Princess Veronica was important to Bart. And it's probably Bart's pride as a squire that makes her unable to accept how weak she is in the present.
And the anger she felt when Harusumi pretended to threaten Princess Veronica probably came from Bart.
Even though she says she's a different person, when she challenged Harusumi and them, she shouted out clearly, "I am Zerestria's Fang, Leader of the Warrior's House, Son of Belbania!" That title, that honour still meant something to her. She's in a complicated and often times contrary situation where she may know who she was but the picture is incomplete. But there are truths she can cling to.
Bart's loyalty to the Princess, his anger towards his inability to protect her, his guilt, his shame and his determination: she's accepted all of these as a part of herself.
This is an important thing because Hiroki isn't the kind of person who commits easily. A small way this shows is how she's good at sports but hasn't found a club she wants to join. A bigger way this shows is how, even after finding out that Harusumi is Veronica, she still watched him, trying to decide if she wants to give the loyalty she owes Veronica to the princess' reincarnation. Even when she was confessed to by Moto, Hiroki went to think about it first before finally giving her answer. Hiroki just isn't the sort of person to commit to something or someone all willy-nilly. That she has decided to accept Bart's feelings means that she not only accepted that she's his reincarnation. It also means that she thinks those feelings are important. Then again, given that she remembers being Bart, that probably contributed to her feeling these memories are important because they are hers.
Abilities:
- fighting abilities: Hiroki remembers being Bart Belbania who was trained as a squire of Zerestria. So she knows how to fight with weapons. Her reflexes are good so she can put these to use. The only problem is that Hiroki doesn't have the stamina or the right build to fight like Bart. For one, she has the same problem everyone else does: she just doesn't have the right muscles. The reflexes and knowledge and instincts are all there, but her body just doesn't move the way she thinks it should. Muscles developed from sports isn't the same as muscles developed for swordfighting, and there's no way a regular highschool girl could compare to a squire who trained from when he was young.
- magic: it's mentioned that Bart can cast Earth magic among other types, but Hiroki doesn't remember how to use magic at all.

First Person:
[Hiroki smiled brightly.]
You know, I've never been in America before. This is quite exciting, isn't it? [She laughed.] Well, I guess it won't be all fun and games, since it looks like I'll be going to school...in September, was it? [She reached up to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear still wearing that friendly smile.] I hope we'll all get along.
[She makes as if to turn off the feed then stops, acting as if she just remember something.] Ah. I almost forgot. Does anyone know if there's a kendo club or some kind of martial arts club at school? If not, do any of you know where I can take lessons? [There's that cheerful smile again. Perfectly innocent.] I've always wanted to learn but I was always too nervous to try. [Which is a lie. She'd never really felt a need to do something like that.] But it's good to try new things, right? [Maybe she can bring the knowledge back with her when she went back. It was worth a shot, right?]
